Maddie

Maddie grew up in Vail, Arizona and fell in love with reading in her seventh grade English class. Her teacher had the best classroom library where she was introduced to so many classics. Her favorite book in middle school was The Great Gatsby. Since then, she was always bribing her parents to take her to her favorite used bookstore in the area. When she isn’t at work, she fills her time with reading, listening to music, rearranging her room, hanging out with her family, and playing Minecraft with her partner.

I will be a Sally Rooney lover until the day I die. All three of her novels, Normal People, Conversations with Friends, and Beautiful World, Where Are You spoke to me in ways I can never explain. Conversations with Friends being my favorite of the bunch, I related to the characters and their personalities so much. Rooney has a way of creating these characters that become so alive in their story. At the end of her books, it feels like saying goodbye to old friends. ~Maddie

Whenever someone asks me what my favorite book is, this is always my response. This book has stuck with me for close to a decade now, and it is one I can never really get over. The way Stephen Chbosky sets up this book is beautiful and heartbreaking. He creates the narrative through letters sent to an anonymous recipient. So, over time, you get to know all of the characters but through the lens of Charlie. I have read this book at many different times in my life and with every read it connects to different parts of my life. ~Maddie

This book was such a treat. I loved the way Emily Austin made her character so entertaining and shocking. The title is also fabulous, and it grabbed my attention immediately. It is just as dark as you would think it is, but it’s also very funny. I loved it! ~Maddie

Published: Holt Paperbacks - May 3rd, 2022

I really enjoyed this read. Jenny Lawson is known for her humor books, but this one was on a different level. The book was like emotional whiplash. There will be a chapter where I am up late laughing like a crazy person or silently crying in public. It was a really enjoyable read that delved into her journey with mental health and her ways of living with it.  ~Maddie

Whenever someone asks for romance recommendations, I always point them to Emily Henry. One of my favorite tropes in romance novels is the whole enemies/rivals to lovers. What I love about Emily Henry’s writing is that the book is so much more than the romance. Book Lovers follows this trope perfectly and makes my romantic heart happy. ~Maddie
