For Parents & Kids: Mike Lanza Sunday, April 29 Choose from one of two times: 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Scroll down to purchase tickets. 226 Yale Rd., Menlo Park Decades ago, most neighborhoods buzzed with kids playing outside daily. Today, you rarely see this. Electronic media and adult-administered activities have essentially squeezed free outdoor play out of the lives of American children -- to the detriment of our children's wellbeing and our immediate communities. How can moms and dads help their kids today to play outside in their neighborhoods, every day?? You're invited to discover the answer at the private launch party of Menlo Park's own local Dad, Mike Lanza, and his new book, At Mike's Menlo Park home, you and your kids will enjoy the wonders of Mike's front and back yards, (including an inground trampoline, playhouse with slides, fountain for kids, art projects, and a neighborhood driveway map to scale for hot wheels cars) and an inspiring chat about what parents are up against in establishing regular outside neighborhood play wherever they live and what the solutions are. The critical skills of increased self-reliance, social adaptation, leadership, and creativity are a direct result of what playing in their own neighborhoods can teach your children.
Refreshments will be provided. Admission for one family with the purchase of a book: ($9.95 + tax).
