Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Sam has one of the happiest faces I’ve seen and I am happy myself to know and love Angel, my youngest brother who like Sam and his family are learning to cope with Asperger Syndrome. This beautifully written and illustrated book, paints for you and I a spot-on real life scenario that is affecting young boys and girls more and more these days. Sam is going through grade school as a shy introvert and being bullied because of it. Preferring to build with blocks, sticking to a comfortable routine, Sam enjoys being on his own. But when Sam goes wandering off one night to the local fairgrounds just to see the Ferris wheel, his parents begin to worry about his behavior. After Sam’s parents get a tough diagnosis, they begin to work together to try and find ways to help Sam come into his own. The story concludes with Sam finding new comfort in the cello, which he shares with his classmates when he performs at his school concert. I found myself cheering and wanting to scoop up Sam in my arms to reassure him that all will be fine, you will too. Penelope B. |
