Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Imagine the story set in 1970's San Francisco and three young sisters, 8 year old Laura, her older sister Sara and Amy, the youngest, raised by their beautiful, vulnerable and tragic mother Sally, their childhood filled with travel and doll games, but always framed by their mother's mental illness, paranoid schizophrenia, characterized by hallucinations, aggression and disorganized thoughts. But Laura's memoir is not just another story about yet another dysfunctional family; it rather sings to us in a language as lyrical and precise as poetry. Laura M. Flynn reconstructs her family's past, giving it anew its shape and meaning, as if this act of writing or atonement could anchor what was lost. --Aggie Z.
