I made the Baked Oatmeal with Huckleberries on a Thursday, before I moved out of my parents’ house recently and it was, for lack of a better word a revelation. Some cookbooks have me cooking out of them for maybe a few weeks but I find myself always reaching for a recipe from Ms. Swanson. In ‘Super Natural Cooking’ she made whole foods accessible and so simple to prepare. And now with ‘Super Natural Everyday’ she lets you into her kitchen and pantry around the clock, including snacks and some beautiful ideas for drinks. What is always a surprise is how I fall for the Bay Area everytime, Ms. Swanson weaves in her beautiful photographs and stories centered in and around the Bay. Some current favorites are the honey oat cakes with maple syrup, millet muffins and black sesame otsu. This is one to add to your library and use liberally with the seasons. -- Penelope |
