Ledger Kale is hoping to become the fastest boy at
Theodore Roosevelt Middle School, and maybe even the fastest boy on
the planet. But Ledge is not so fortunate, and the supernatural power,
the “savvy,” that he receives on his thirteenth birthday turns him
into a human wrecking ball. The toaster, the garage door opener, the
wheels on the family minivan – everything is blown to bits by Ledge
and his brand new savvy. So much for speed, or levitating, or mind control
– all savvies the rest of his special family call their own.
As his family travels across the country for a cousin's wedding, Ledge leaves behind a path of destruction and, worst of all, a witness: nosy Sarah Jane, who threatens to tell everyone in town the family secret. When Uncle Autry's ranch is threatened and Sarah Jane’s newspaper goes to print, Ledge knows he has to take control and "scumble" his savvy.
