Odd and th Frost Giants - Kepler's Staff Review

Deviating slightly from his darker style, Neil Gaiman has crafted a delightfully funny tale about Odd, a young Viking boy, smart but scrawny, who wanders upon a fantastic adventure.

Thought to be useless by his step-father and step-brothers, Odd often makes mistakes. When he runs away to a shelter in the woods to avoid the trouble coming to him from his latest misstep, he meets a fox, an eagle and a bear.  Odd suspects that these animals are not quite as they seem; in fact, he is pretty sure that they can talk, although they deny it strongly!  He finally convinces them to reveal their true identities – Odin, Thor and Loki, the Norse gods of old.  These three have been trapped in animal form by the evil frost giant who has captured Asgard.  It is, of course, now up to young Odd to infiltrate the giant’s lair, lift the spell, and restore the gods to their former glory!

But when and if he does, will these the notoriously capricious gods reward Odd for his assistance, or is Odd in trouble again?
