Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
By R. L. Lafevers Nathaniel Fludd lives with his governess, but otherwise alone at home. He draws in his journal and records his uneventful life. His parents left to gallivant around the globe and explore the far off reaches of the world. They were supposed to send for him when he turned eight to begin his training in the Fludd family exploring heritage, but they did not. Now news has come that their airship went down at the pole, and they presumed dead. Nathaniel is sent to live with his relative, Phil A. Fludd, who turns out to be woman, and better yet a beasteologist who studies and cares for mythical creatures! She has an urgent mission at the moment-- to oversee the re-birth of a phoenix-- and she is delighted to have a fellow Fludd along to assist. She is horrified to learn, however, that he has no training whatsoever. Worse yet, he has received none of the traditional letters the Fludd’s have sent home for generations to record their discoveries and educate their young. His parents were supposed to send them, but they did not. Never mind, he is a Fludd after all, and she needs an assistant. For once, Nathaniel is wanted, although he worries his aunt assumes him to be genetically more talented and competent that he really is. As their prop plane takes off for Arabia, little does he know that all his hidden talents and courage will be tested as he encounter mythical birds, surly camels, territorial Bedouins, pesky gremlins and unfeeling kidnappers who nab his aunt! Now all depends on Nathaniel Fludd. If he fails, all is lost. He resolves that HE WILL NOT. Reviewed by Vivian
