Mr. Punch is a book that unsettles me, deeply, and also a book
that I love, love, love. It’s gorgeous. Neil Gaiman’s story dances
on the edge between reality and illusion, dreams and history. It’s
filled with family, cruelty, Punch and Judy shows, and the way things
crumble into something else in our memory. Dave McKean’s art splatters
across the page, warmly glorious and frightening. Together, their work
is completely strange and surreal, and still so believable that it takes
up residence in your head like it’s been there all along. -- Megan K.
