The Maze Runner - Kepler's Staff Review

Thomas awakens trapped in a small, cold metal box that seems to be moving. All he remembers is his name. Everything else about his life is just gone. He screams for help until his throat is raw. It seems ages later that the roof of the box opens to reveal faces peering down at him; the faces of other boys. "Welcome to the Glade," one of them greets him.

The Glade is basically a prison, but why they are there, none of the boys have any idea.  Every month a new boy appears in the box. The boys form a community, each boy assigned to a team, each team with a leader. One team in particular intrigues Thomas most -- the Maze Runners.  It seems the Maze wants to tell them something, that it holds the secret to the Glade and their freedom. Unfortunately its configuration changes every day and no one survives a night inside it.   Slightly faster, more observant than the others, Thomas believes he is perfect to run the Maze. He knows if he wants to help, he must risk the run. Now all he needs to do is win the trust of the other boys. That will prove a little more difficult. --Antonia S.
