I have read and re-read this book about 999 times, and I will continue to read it, gift it and share it with all because it is one of those stories that stays with you. It is more than an adventure story, because it is also about the spontaneous gift of quiet companionship and friendship.

What would you do if you found a penguin outside of your door? An adorable little thing who wears a look of utter loneliness that you would sail to the end of the earth to reverse.

Oliver Jeffers is not only magical with story, but with his paint brush as well (illustrations):  all the soft and dark hues of blue; and all around the beauty and simplicity of story. It will make you smile and misty with nostalgia for a childlike adventure!
