Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Imagine yourself a mind trapped inside a body jerked by brutal commands you must obey. Sam is only still when he runs; and he can run fast. Sam knows very well he has Tourette's. His alcoholic step-dad and Mom have incessantly told him that he got it from his good-for-nothing father who abandoned him and then died. Sam's voice, as he describes how it feels to be ridiculed and misunderstood every day at school and at home, to be frustrated and betrayed by his own body, is one of the most compelling voices you will ever hear in any book.
But everything Sam knows is lies. His name is not even Sam; it's Jack. And his father was a loving parent, a fantastic artist, a maker of windmills who never forgot him. In fact, he has left Jack a trail of clues heading West to California through a landscape of friendships, adaptation, creativity and love. Jack and his friend Naomi, whom Jack yearns to love, and who is in a pickle of her own, embark on a road trip toward discovering who Jack's father really was. On the way they also expose what Jack really is other than "a teen with Tourette's": He is a dazzling runner, a heroic friend, a good son and, turns out, very likely, a tender and dependable boyfriend Check out the book trailer at : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-U6R990YiU&feature=player_embedded
