Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
An engaging series set in England and France during
the Great War, each Bess Crawford mystery offers a glimpse of the ravages
of the First World War as seen through the eyes of Bess Crawford, battlefield
nurse.
It is the summer of 1917 and Bess is sent from the
front lines back to England with a convoy of injured soldiers. One of
her patients, a severely burned pilot, clings to a photograph of his
wife. The patients are transferred to the clinic, and Bess catches a
glimpse of a familiar face at a train station – the wife of the burned
pilot. A few weeks later, in France, she encounters a newspaper with
a picture of the same woman, whose murder is being investigated by Scotland
Yard. Bess is granted leave to journey to Scotland Yard and report what
she knows, but she quickly starts her own investigation, determined
to discover the truth of a tangled life and brutal murder.
Another thrilling literary mystery from one of the
great writing teams of the genre. --Ann
