I Crocodile - Kepler's Stafff Review

By Fred Marcellino

The gentle life of this contented and supremely well fed Nile crocodile is rudely interrupted by Napoleon and his invasion of Egypt. Our green and scaly hero is dragged of to Paris, where he becomes the new darling of Parisian high society (however, his meals remain unsatisfactory). But the fickle hearts of Napoleon and the crocodile's fans quickly find something new to rave about and our dear croc is left, neglected and forgotten, until one day someone suggests that he be baked into a pie, as crocodile pie is all the rage in Egypt. Will our reptilian gourmand escape? Or will he find his end at the bottom of Napoleon's stomach?

Marcellino's illustrations are chortle inducing in little and big readers. The crocodile swans around, pulling faces and postures and is an all around joy to watch.
