Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Over
my years in children’s books, I’ve learned this to be true: 1. Open a
picture book in public, 2. Start to read aloud, give it spirit with joy
in the words and… 3. In a blink, little young faces will be gathered
round you, eagerly listening as if you were the genuine Pied Piper. GO
AHEAD; TRY IT.
This book is about a (very) adorable puppy and a (very) smarty-pants bird who entices him into learning to read—no pressure, just story. But once Rocket tastes the words—names his friends, tells the day—well, then there’s no end to the tale because there’s always the next great read, the next splendid new word. This can be a child’s first book love or a little reader’s knowing delight. It’s pitch-perfect and joyfully illustrated—a true morsel! -- Vivian L. |
