Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
8th-grade Leon’s gifted and talented class is asked to make educational videos. He decides he wants to tell the younger students about puberty and that what they’re going through is tough but normal. He styles it after La Dolce Vita. But the program director suspends him after seeing his first draft and the local community subsequently gets embroiled in a debate over censorship. It’s sarcastic and outrageous, controversial and very, very funny. Not for everyone, certainly, this is a sure hit for any middle schooler who would agree that “you don’t have to be smart to be a smart-ass. But it helps.” [Grades 6 – 8]
