Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Inspired by a passage from Henry David Thoreau's Walden, this entertaining, thought-provoking, and gloriously illustrated story follows two friends who have very different approaches to life. Henry the Bear and his friend argue about the best way to get to Fitchburg, which is 30 miles away. Henry's friend says that the train is fastest and sets off to find odd jobs about town to raise money for his fare before the train leaves. Henry starts walking. As we follow each of them through their day we get to practice our math -- adding up the funds for the ticket for the friend and subtracting the miles left to walk for Henry. As the sun goes down they meet in Fitchburg, and you'll have to decide who had the best day! Reviewed by Vivian |
