What is a dog to do when he hears a terrible sound "WROWWW-W-W-W-W-W-W"?

Poor Hairy Maclary was minding his own business:

            Eating his meal;

            Jellymeat,

            Biscuits,

            A snippet of veal.

Naturally he had to investigate, as did Hercules Morse (as big as a horse), Bottomly Potts (covered with spots), Muffin McLay (like a bundle of hay), Bitzer Maloney (all skinny and boney), and Schnitzel Von Krumm (with the very low tum) - following the sound to find out what on earth is the matter.

What will they do when they discover their nemesis, Scarface Claw (the toughest tom in town)?

This is the latest installment of the Hairy Maclary series and does not disappoint.  Hairy Maclary has been one of my favorites for a very long time - in fact I was on facebook last night and my 19 year old goddaughter had posted a list of her favorite books from childhood - topping the list? Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy of course - and three guesses who bought it for her!
