French Lessons - Kepler's Staff Review

I fell in love with Paris as I read this light, delightful novel about three Americans who spend a life-changing day in Paris with a French tutor. Josie is a high school French teacher who when asked if she is in Paris for business or pleasure thinks it is a trick question. She has just quit her job and the man she loved has just died. So she tells her tutor she is there to buy shoes. Riley moved to Paris with her family when her husband took a job there. But she is lonely and cut off and searching to connect with the city, with her husband, with what she really wants. And Jeremy is married to a famous actress. It is their anniversary so he has come with her on a film shoot, but questions everything about his life as he feels disconnected and adrift.

Three Americans, three French tutors, a day meandering through the gorgeous streets of Paris, where romance and adventure lurk in every corner.  It made me want to jump straight on a plane and join them. It is the perfect summer read. --Angela
