Frankly, Frannie - Kepler's Staff Review

Frankly, this little girl means business. Frances B. Miller (the B stands for Bird, “but don’t tell anyone”), or Frannie, changes her name a lot. Currently, she goes by Frankly because Frannie “sounds too much like fanny, which is another word for butt.” She wants very much to be an adult, so she uses grown-up words like “actually,” “certainly,” and “for instance,” and eats mustard (because “ketchup isn’t grown-up at all”).

Frannie and her classmates are visiting the local radio station. She is “excitified” and determined to get a job there, where she’ll have an office and an assistant. She loves offices and an assistant is just what she asked for at Christmas. Frannie prepares by writing a resume and making business cards out of an empty Kleenex box, putting everything in a briefcase. She is ready to land the job! She gets her shot when the radio host goes missing and Frannie decides to help by taking over. But she learns that her idea of help is very different from a grown-up’s. -- Amis
