Adnan's Story: The Search for Truth and Justice After Serial

RSVP HERE.

In 2014, the podcast Serial, a spinoff of This American Life, captured the imagination of millions of listeners around the globe. Co-created by host Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, the broadcast uses investigative journalism to create a nonfiction story over multiple episodes. Koenig has said, “Serial is about the basics: love and death and injustice and truth. These are big, big things.”

Serial’s first season focused on Adnan Syed’s trial and subsequent murder conviction of his former girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. The reason Sarah Koenig decided to investigate Adnan’s case in the first place was due to one woman—Rabia Chaudry—and we’re bringing her to Kepler’s for an unforgettable exploration of her astonishing story.

In Adnan’s Story: The Search for Truth and Justice after Serial, Rabia exposes startling new evidence about the investigation and trial of Adnan Syed. While Serial (which has been downloaded over 500 million times) resulted in a massive amount of awareness, it didn’t tell the whole story.

As a close family friend of Adnan’s, Rabia has doggedly pursued every route towards his exoneration. In this special evening edition of In Deep Radio with Angie Coiro, Rabia Chaudry will talk about compelling new evidence, her arguments dismantling the State’s case against Adnan, and the potential for a new trial for a man she believes has been unjustly convicted and imprisoned.

Rabia Chaudry is an attorney, Jennings Randolph Senior Fellow at the U.S. Institute of Peace, and International Security Fellow at New America. She is a frequent public speaker and her writing has appeared in numerous outlets including TimeThe Huffington Post, and the Chicago Times.
