Deja Dead - Kepler's Staff Review

Deja Dead is the first book in the Temperance Brennan series. If you like Patricia Cornwell then you will adore Kathy Reich’s gritty and complex mysteries. Readers will appreciate Reich’s acknowledged accuracy and no-nonsense details in her descriptions of Brennan’s adventures.

Forensic anthropologist Temperance Brennan leads a busy life, traveling between her teaching job in North Carolina and her forensic duties in Quebec. The summer finds her in Montreal where Dr Brennan suspects a link between several corpses. But is she seeing more than is really there? Does she dare not share her suspicions with investigators when a potential serial killer is loose in Montreal? Can she convince the skeptical homicide investigators there might be a connection between the deaths? Then her unstable friend Gabby vanishes and Temperance is left with more unanswered questions. Gabby is a sociologist studying women on the streets. Is Gabby somehow involved or just being her usual flakey self? With more questions than answers and the majority of the Section des homicides annoyed at her, Tempe needs to figure out what is going on before another mutilated corpse turns up on her autopsy table. --Ann D
