Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Neil Gaiman wrote the words that became this book for a friend who was expecting a daughter. They are gentle words, and hopeful ones, a wish for all the good fortune and possibility in the world. The book celebrates wisdom, love, and bravery, everything we learn from growing up and all the things we should remember about being young. It is something between a prayer and poem, with a singing quality that makes it satisfying to read out loud. The illustrations by Charles Vess are full of color and delight. They offer a world of sunlight, trees, friendly animals, and girls who dance and tumble and race their way through it. This is a book for very young girls, for mothers and fathers, and for girls who are growing up and embarking on something new. Megan K. |
