Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
In the sleepy hidden town of Tres Camarones, life was about to change in ways surprising and exciting. Over the last few years all the town’s men, except those too old or those who were boys, had gone north - for jobs, for money for something; even 19-year-old Nayeli‘s dad who had been the town’s only police officer. Now the town missed its men and life seemed to be stunted and too slow, even for a little sleepy town. Irma, Nayeli’s aunt and self appointed matriarch, was ready to do something about those missing men, something big. She would get the men to return to Tres Camarones. And what better way to do this grand thing than to send the best, smartest and most qualified people from their little town, lead by Nayeli, Irma’s strong and brave niece? Nayeli’s brave group of four takes on the quest to go north to the U.S. to bring back their men. Along their long trip, they meet characters of great interest, charm and promise. Their wits are tested often and their resourcefulness pulls them together and bounces them apart with challenges that threaten the very idea of their quest. Nayeli and her band meet that challenge with gusto to bring back the men to Tres Camarones in a courageous, funny and very true way. What an endearing story and clear vision this book is – it speaks for everyone who has dreamed of change that is big and fuzzy and scary. It is the small voice in all of us that pushes for something more. Read this book, it is a wonder. Marilyn S |
