Kepler's 2020 Project in the News:
Meet Nathaniel Fludd, uncertain explorer, faithful friend, unlikely hero and to his surprise, apprentice beasteologist, that is caretaker of the world's surviving mythical creatures. In Book One, Flight of the Phoenix Nathaniel lived with his governess while his explorer parents gallivanted around the world. When word came that they had been lost at the Pole, Nathaniel was sent to his aunt Phil, last remaining beasteologist. She was horrified to learn that he had absolutely no training in exploration. But she had an urgent mission: to oversee the re-birth of a phoenix. She needed an assistant, and he was a Fludd after all. In Arabia all Nathaniel's hidden talents and courage were tested as he encountered mythical birds, surly camels, territorial Bedouins, pesky gremlins, and unfeeling kidnappers who nab his aunt! Now in Book Two, a basilisk is on the loose!! This beast born of a cockerel egg, incubated by a serpent, can strike down any living thing with it paralyzing gaze and poisonous breath. They must trap the basilisk without losing their lives, get it back to its cave, and figure out how it escaped in the first place. Or did it? Once again all will depend on Nathaniel's ability to trust himself, think fast, and demonstrate how much can be done with just two weasels, one gremlin, and a pair of goggles! Reviewed by Vivian |
