11 a.m.: Gabrielle Glancy, author of I'm Already Disturbed Please Come In: Parasites, Social Media and Other Planetary Disturbances

Oakland-based college counselor by day and award-winning poet by night, Gabrielle Glancy explores the social world of medicine in her new book. As intriguing as its title suggests, Glancy's book details the author's year-long struggle with a mysterious illness that doctor after doctor is unable to diagnose. Part medical mystery, part passionate love story, the book is ultimately a vital social inquiry on our healthcare system and our world.

12:15 p.m.: Lance Simmens, The Evolution of a Revolution

Simmens captures the excitement and promise of a hope and change agenda after eight years of aimless meandering by the George W. Bush administrations, particularly with respect to domestic policy. The book tracks the unprecedented level of obstructionism that accompanied the evolution of the Tea Party wing of the Republican Party and is sympathetic to the policy and political paralysis facing the President as he attempts to chart a new course for the country, particularly on the economic and health care fronts.
