I loved this book. It shows how versatile a writer Michael Chabon is. Written in pulp fiction style it really gets under the skin of wartime New York. The early chapters about the golem will stay with me forever, I think. It's sweet and sentimental at times, about friendship and loyalty, love and the need to escape. And the rise of the comic book of course. Don't let the sheer size of it put you off, it's so worth it. --Angela M.
